Role: Student Support Mentor
Location: Taunton
Pay: £92.00 - £109.00 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time only
This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

About the Role

Looking for a role where every day makes a difference? A specialist middle school in Taunton is seeking a compassionate and resilient Student Support Mentor to join its dedicated team supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. This role is more than classroom support; you will become a key part of a nurturing environment that encourages students to develop confidence, communication skills, independence, and positive relationships alongside academic learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students throughout the school day both in lessons and around the school environment.
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support and small-group interventions.
  • Help pupils develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Encourage engagement in learning and positive behaviour.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Build trusting relationships that help students feel safe, valued, and confident.
  • Celebrate progress, no matter how small.

Who Should Apply?

  • Experience in SEND support, care or support work, residential childcare, youth work, coaching or mentoring, health and social care settings.
  • Patient, empathetic, and genuinely passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
