The wordings team servicing UK & Lloyds seeks a Wordings Analyst to join us. You will be an integral part of the team, part of a wider Global Wordings function within Global Litigation, supporting underwriters across all product lines covering a wide range of complex risks. You will have the opportunity to grow your wordings skillset and set AXA XL apart by demonstrating your technical drafting skills and advisory services to underwriters, their clients and brokers.
What you'll be doing
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across the Global Wordings team, the wider Legal function, Claims, Compliance, and Conduct Risk to meet team goals, service standards, and internal projects. Maintain clear communication with underwriting teams to understand their needs. Contribute towards our safe and inclusive value-based culture with a sense of team spirit and purpose.
- Create & Innovate: Collaborate with stakeholders to create and refine insurance products, leading innovation for AXA XL. Translate underwriting intent into cover with limited supervision.
- Training & Development: Share best practices across the business, support presentations to underwriting teams, and provide technical wording advice pre- and post-bind. Supported by the wider wordings team, proactively identify gaps and grow your wordings skillset.
- Analysis & Review: Support underwriters and fellow wordings personnel in the review of wordings and clauses of every type, explaining to underwriters and other stakeholders their implications and wording risk. Support the timely delivery of commercial outcomes for the issues presented.
- Governance & Contract Certainty: Ensure contractual clarity and adherence to governance principles when reviewing and advising on contractual terms in line with Underwriting, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and regulatory standards.
- External Engagement: Support AXA XL representation in wording discussions and negotiations with brokers and clients, ensuring technical and commercial elements are aligned.
- Technology & Innovation: Embrace new contract analytics tools and manage contract management systems, seeking opportunities for process improvement.
- Leadership & Mentoring: Demonstrate roleāmodel behaviours and support continuous improvement initiatives. Plan and selfāmanage your workload, adhering to deadlines and competing priorities.
What you'll bring
- An enthusiasm for wordings, an affinity with written English and evidence of the technical facility to draft insurance contract language, coupled with a foundational understanding of insurance law concepts. Applications from candidates with a legal, underwriting or claims background are welcome.
- The ability to interpret and analyse insurance clauses and requests, creating with limited support clear, robust wording solutions from existing material, always with our customers in mind.

- An understanding of insurance, legal, and compliance needs across different classes, and an awareness of standard clauses and market practices.
- Capable of planning and managing workload independently under pressure, meeting deadlines and juggling priorities.

- Excellent interpersonal skills to interrogate coverage concepts and explore abstract policy ideas.
- Desirable: ACII qualification, legal qualification, and experience with contract analytics technology.
