AXA XL is looking for an Operational Risk Manager to join the Risk Governance, Internal Control and Operational Risk Centre of Excellence team.
Responsibilities
- Lead various initiatives and mature the Operational risk framework and methodology, including the qualitative Risk Assessment.
- Complete quantitative Operational Risk scenarios in line with AXA Group requirements and support the AXA XL Internal Model.
- Lead operational risk loss event reporting, promote risk awareness and culture, review root causes of loss events, and recommend prevention actions.
- Provide guidance and support to legal entity Risk Managers to ensure robust application of the Operational risk methodology across the Division.
- Engage with business to monitor operational risk profile, develop risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with risk appetite thresholds.
- Produce reporting and escalated operational risk issues.
- Collaborate with Information risk, Internal control, Compliance, Operational Resilience and other functions to present a robust, holistic view of Operational risk.
- Engage with AXA Group on operational risk topics as required.
- Represent Operational Risk Management at Committee meetings and key projects run by the Risk Governance, Internal Control and Operational Risk team.
- Engage in Operational risk Second Opinion Reviews and influence senior management to close mitigation actions.
- Support usage of the risk management tool within AXA XL and ensure data quality related to Operational risk information.
Qualifications Required Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to deliver high‑quality outputs.
- Expertise and practical experience in operational risk frameworks.
- Effective analytical skills to review data and understand operational risk exposures and trends.
- Proficiency in utilising risk management tools and systems.
- Excellent report‑writing skills and commercial acumen.
- Stakeholder management skills at Board level, Leadership Team, and business, with ability to secure pragmatic solutions.
- Robust experience of risk management in the second line and experience dealing with difficult situations, especially in contract risk management.

- Fluent spoken and written English; French is an advantage.
