This business writes truly varied risks – from large global manufacturing, retail and hospitality risks to smaller, middle‑market companies, care homes and travel package providers both in the UK and globally.

Building relationships with clients and understanding their business is key and through transparent collaboration with them and any other relevant stakeholders, we can deliver the service our clients have come to expect.

This is an exciting permanent opportunity to join our Property & Casualty Claims Department based in both London & Ipswich.

This role is within the Casualty team, working on Company paper commercial risks.

Depending on future work volumes, the opportunity may arise to work on the Ipswich Property and Construction Claims Team too.

Role suit: interested in Casualty claims, adapting to changing workloads, communicating at all levels, enjoyment of exposure to large corporate clients with a global reach.

Based in London or Ipswich with a hybrid Smart Working initiative.

You may be required to travel to Ipswich occasionally.

Regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of Public & Products Liability claims, as well as Employers’ Liability claims, up to a pre‑determined authority level.

Pro‑active engagement with all stakeholders to resolve claims promptly and fairly.

  • Liaison with brokers and/or clients to ‘desktop’ investigate liability and hold regular meetings to discuss claims protocols, activity, trends and defensibility.
  • Ensuring all claims are reserved wherever possible, within company guidelines.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with Underwriters, Actuaries and other internal departments.
  • Providing guidance to Third‑Party Administrators and Legal Partners for claims outside delegated authority arrangements; reporting larger matters up to Management.
  • Managing diary system for all claims, reviewing every 90 days.
  • Hosting regular meetings with delegated claim partners to oversee portfolio performance, improvement areas and fund adequacy.
  • Attending audit performance discussions with key partners, ensuring action points are tackled quickly and effectively.
  • Working with Offshore / Shared Services to enhance support delivered.
  • Participating in underwriting‑driven meetings to explain portfolio performance and risk assessment.
  • Preparing and presenting large claim activity to the Management / Leadership team.
  • Assisting Underwriters with renewal proposals by providing claims detail for informed business decisions.
  • Liaising with Brokers / Co‑insurers / other Defendants as required.
  • Managing all litigated cases within company practices and expectations.
  • Volunteering on project groups for business improvement or product enhancement.
  • Managing static and inactive claims across the wider team.
  • Analyzing data sets to expose outliers and anomalies as part of performance management.
  • Participating in underwriting and global lessons‑learned when coverage issues arise.

  • Experience in dealing with Employers’, Public and/or Product Liability claims from cradle to grave.
  • Policy wording interpretation and coverage analysis.
  • Knowledge of the MOJ Claims Portal preferable.
  • Knowledge of Global Programs preferable.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and responsibilities.
  • Confident and effective communication skills, both written and spoken.
