We are seeking a visionary General Counsel to lead our legal and compliance departments into the future, leveraging technology and AI to enhance efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the legal and compliance functions, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and corporate governance.
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior management and the AXA Group General Counsel on key legal issues.
- Coordinate with compliance teams globally, monitor regulatory changes, and ensure timely adjustments to operations.
- Manage external legal counsel relationships and drive efficiencies.
- Mentor, develop, and lead a high‑performing team of approximately 250 legal and compliance professionals.
- Promote a culture of integrity, ethics, and compliance across AXA XL.
- Build robust relationships with industry associations, regulators, and other AXA Group General Counsels.
- Contribute to the AXA Group Legal Leadership Team and support the Solvency II key function.
Required Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school and bar admission (US) or appropriate licenses.
- Extensive experience in a legal and/or compliance role, preferably within the insurance industry.
- International experience with cross‑cultural communication skills.
- Strategic thinking and practical commercial advice skills, with strong adherence to legal and ethical requirements.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of insurance law (preferred) and experience in litigation, contract, and civil law across multiple jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to increase efficiency.
- Fluency in English.
