We're looking for a driven, analytically minded undergraduate to join our team and contribute to data-driven projects, data modelling, and reporting initiatives. This is a placement year offering for 2nd year undergraduates who are looking to complete their placement year within a global actuarial team. The role is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis, to fit around the academic year.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support Underwriting Actuaries with data analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc analytical tasks
  • Contribute to the design and development of senior management reporting packs, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and visual effectiveness
  • Gather and document requirements from actuarial and business stakeholders for new tools and reports
  • Build and maintain automation tools using Python, R, and Excel to improve team efficiency
  • Collaborate with the Tools team to translate business needs into clear technical specifications
  • Communicate findings and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

You will report to Senior Lead, AFR.

What you’ll bring

  • Academic excellence: Working towards an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Python, RStudio, and Excel (including macros and automation)
  • Analytical mindset: Experience with statistical programming, data handling, and financial modelling
  • Communication skills: Ability to present findings clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Requirements gathering: Ability to listen, understand, and translate business needs into structured, actionable briefs
