Description of the department: Since 2013, we've pioneered the idea of creating investment funds that seek to bring about a positive social and environmental impact, while delivering competitive financial returns for our investors. We believe we can generate outcomes that benefit people and the planet, while meeting our clients' financial objectives. This is Impact Investing - identifying and funding projects where financial outcomes and environmental or social impact are linked.
The role-holder will support and enhance the impact investment team's private equity investment processes and portfolio management process in line with our objective to deliver market rate returns alongside intentional and measurable impact across environmental and social themes.
Your role and responsibilities will include:
- Conduct research on key impact themes in line with our investment strategy
- Conduct qualitative analysis and formulate views on funds and impact businesses to assess alignment with impact objectives
- Data collection and analysis from our portfolio funds and direct investments
- Reporting of impact performance to clients
- Work with impact databases and analysis systems to support the investment research team's broader efforts to place capital with impact investments
- Support transition of impact management system to a tech-based platform
- Support continued evolution of impact management system to align with best practice
- Provide support to the Impact Investing platform
- Perform ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned from time-to-time
Qualifications:
Education: Studying for a degree in finance, social sciences, development or related fields on a 4-year University degree course with 3rd year work placement included.
Skills & Experience:
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a team within an international and fast-moving environment
- Microsoft Excel (modelling and analysis), Word, PowerPoint, etc. Knowledge of Bloomberg is an advantage
- Analytical ability e.g. an aptitude to quickly get familiar and iterate on impact valuation models and research/company data
- Ability to manage databases and reporting tools used to drive decision-making and portfolio analysis
- Strong competency in data analysis – collecting and managing data, data organization/interpretation skills
- Strong project management skills, ability to take ownership of processes and service delivery
- Proven ability to multi-task and produce quality working within tight deadlines
- Attention to detail
- A hard-working, dynamic and proactive self-starter
- Effective communication including verbal, written & presentational
- Creative thinking, capability to develop innovative solutions and challenge consensus
- Fluency in English, other language is a plus
Experience: Demonstrated interest in impact investing, sustainable investing and ESG analysis. Knowledge of impact investing norms and principles including the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
