We have an exciting opportunity to join our Personal Injury & Credit Hire team in Belfast! Reporting into the Claims Team Leader, you will handle and settle complex damage / personal injury / property and EL/PL claims in a timely, cost effective and customer focused manner ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements in your jurisdiction. You'll work the majority of the time away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you'll be doing:

  • People Accountabilities & Responsibilities: Senior Claims Handlers will act as a point of contact for customers, third parties and other claims areas to register claims and manage them to settlement stage including notification, triage, investigation, fulfilment, negotiation, liability and settlement, payment, subrogation and salvage.
  • Handle claims in a compliant and efficient manner, within predefined authority limits and to predefined processes, procedures and escalation points.
  • Carry out and manage own case files meeting daily, weekly and monthly settlement and quality targets.
  • Provide advice and guidance to more junior claims handlers or newly appointed team members in your area.

Customer Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring that customer expectations are met & exceeded on every call.
  • Deal effectively with referrals, escalations and complaints where appropriate including upward referral to relevant team leader.

Operational Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a point of contact for customers, third parties, accident management organisations, third party service providers and solicitors and other claims areas to register claims and manage them to settlement stage in a compliant and efficient manner.
  • Carry out and manage own case files meeting daily, weekly and monthly settlement and quality targets.

Finance Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Contain claim costs by implementing agreed processes and deploying all resources effectively (system and technical resources, other teams, liaising with Third Party Service providers, customers, solicitors).
  • Manage your file portfolio by ensuring consistency in estimating, minimise leakage and fraud.
  • Be flexible within the role to undertake other duties as assigned by your Team Manager to develop your skill set.

About You:

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum of 3 years total work experience, including 2 years minimum in claims handling is essential.
  • 5 Pass GCSEs including Maths and English is required.
  • Third level qualification is required / or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong customer focus with ability to be tactful, empathetic and operate with discretion when dealing with sensitive claims.
  • Experience in handling claims, including procedures and processes related to claim assessment is essential.
  • Knowledge of applicable legal, liability, and quantum considerations within insurance claims is essential.
  • Proven experience working with claims submitted by Accident Management organisations and applying proactive processes to effectively manage and control claim costs.
  • Familiarity with claims management systems and tools, and experience working with legal and technical documentation.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom. This recruitment campaign will be used to support permanent, temporary and/or extension for any upcoming similar positions.
