As a Strategic Portfolio Specialist in the UK & Lloyd’s region, your primary role will be to support the Retail CUO as well as the Chief of Staff and to work in collaboration with the Head of Portfolio Optimisation in the execution of the regional underwriting strategy. You will form part of the Retail leadership team, you and your team will ensure that underwriting in the region is supported with timely, accurate and complete management information, analysis and portfolio management. The role requires a proven ability to positively and effectively manage a complex blend of global and regional priorities and agendas, whilst driving consistency of approach and efficiencies.

What you’ll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?

Strategy:

  • Supporting the development of strategy of the Retail team and it’s lines of business
  • Collaborating with the Head of Portfolio Optimisation to align division and product line objectives.
  • Leading strategic projects in the Lloyd’s region to drive profitability, growth and operational efficiency.
  • Executing critical business change initiatives and providing regular updates to the Underwriting leadership team.

Portfolio Management:

  • Analyzing and tracking underwriting performance through the Portfolio Management Process (PMP) and QBR’s.
  • Maintaining effective broker relationships and aligning portfolio strategies with other business lines and country managers.
  • Ensuring effective implementation of the PMP within teams to align with strategic goals.

Planning and Reporting:

  • Gathering information from all business lines to report and make recommendations to executives.
  • Driving the UK & Lloyd’s quarterly business review process and collaborating on regional and legal entity plans.
  • Managing budgets, monitoring expenses, and providing financial reporting to support decision-making.
  • Developing KPIs and metrics to evaluate organizational performance and track progress.

Oversight, Communication & Collaboration:

  • Overseeing strategy delivery and day to day management with the CUO and global product heads.
  • Representing UK&L UW with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating teams to address key issues and prepare communication materials for meetings.
  • Providing counsel on initiatives and managing relationships between business lines and country managers.
  • Lead on governance topics for the Retail CUO.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Working with underwriting leadership to improve underwriting strategy, rules, guidelines and operations.
  • Developing and implementing strategic underwriting operational plans aligned with objectives.
  • Supporting recruitment of talent and ensuring the timely use of underwriting metrics for decision-making.
  • Conducting pre and post bind reviews in conjunction with GCUOs and providing feedback to improve Underwriting and Operations.
