We’re seeking a dynamic and visionary AI Lead to spearhead AXA's transformative journey in the realm of AI. You’ll be an integral part of the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) and collaborate closely with a diverse group of stakeholders across the UK and Ireland to define and drive AXA's AI vision. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering tangible value for our customers, business units, and the broader AXA organisation, as you design and implement the essential People, Process, and Technology frameworks needed to support this innovative initiative. At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You’ll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. What you’ll be doing:

  • Define AXA’s near‑term, mid‑term, and long‑term AI transformation to deliver value for customers, business units and the wider AXA organisation, driven by key value areas for the insurance industry.
  • Design the people, process, and technology required to support AXA’s AI transformation, including the capability roadmap, strategic infrastructure, model and hosting strategy, build vs buy strategy, delivery and support model, pathfinder use cases.
  • Work closely with the Head of AI Delivery, Head of Data & AI Operations and AI Hub to manage delivery via the AI use case backlog, delivery roadmap and LLMOps.
  • Collaborate with the Head of AI Governance to embed AI Governance gates across the use case lifecycle and embed controls within LLMOps.
  • Work together with the Head of Data & AI Strategy and Culture to develop AI upskilling plan, both technical and non‑technical, and self‑service at‑scale model with Secure GPT Web.
  • Represent UK in strategic AI conversations with Group and influence Group AI trajectory, including Group AI CoE, AI Advisory.
  • Visibly represent AXA at Insurance AI events and networks, ensuring AXA is seen as a strong AI leader in the market.

What you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience in AI strategy and delivering in insurance, such as experience in presenting and running AI Centre of Excellence.
  • Proven track record in managing AI priorities and use‑case delivery that drive significant, measurable business value through the E2E delivery lifecycle such as ideation, governance, build, PoC or Pilot, Scaling and BaU.
  • Strong experience collaborating with BU Heads of Data in shaping BU‑level AI transformation in alignment with UK AI ambition, delivering GenAI use cases to meet requirements and solve for pain points.
  • Deep Technical expertise in AI Technology, Infrastructure and Ops, including LLMs, RAG and CAG, SLMs, distillation models, and Agentic AI.
  • Insurance SME knowledge, understanding key value areas, pain points and existing Data landscape in insurance.
  • Strategic mindset and future‑forward insight to ensure AXA’s AI ambition remains fit‑for‑purpose.
  • Robust narrative‑building skills to communicate with senior leadership.
  • Leadership and collaboration with cross‑functional teams at multiple levels.
  • Demonstrative passion for AI and a commitment to mentoring junior team members, with the ability to work well in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
