Job overview: We're seeking an experienced actuarial professional ready to lead at a strategic level within AXA UK's Risk team to partner with the businesses that we support.

You'll develop and oversee the Product Approval Process for new and material product developments, providing independent second opinions and coordinating with Risk and Compliance for a holistic view.

You'll advise on product design, performance, and strategic alignment.

You'll conduct independent risk reviews of underwriting, pricing, and portfolio strategies, supporting effective challenge and decision making.

This role offers a great opportunity to expand your impact from technical risk to enterprise level strategy, influencing policies and governance to support AXA UK's growth and resilience.

Key responsibilities: Develop and oversee the Product Approval Process (PAP), providing independent second opinions and coordinating Risk and Compliance inputs, while advising senior leaders on product design and performance relative to strategic and financial targets.

Conduct independent risk reviews of underwriting strategies, pricing models, portfolios, and footprint management to support effective challenge and decision-making.

Review strategic initiatives, delivering formal opinions on insurance risk to support senior leadership.

Provide second-line advice on risk considerations for the strategic and financial plans, ensuring activities align with strategies and risk appetite.

Lead the Stress and Scenario Testing process, preparing reports for governance committees.

Maintain and improve the Risk Management Framework for Insurance Risk, monitoring adherence to risk appetite and leading initiatives to strengthen risk practices.

Oversee operational processes including reinsurance mitigation and non-investment credit risk management.

Manage relationships with key stakeholders across business units and risk functions, including senior management and AXA Group counterparts.

Work arrangements: At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers.

You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future.

Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

Your skills & experience: Extensive experience in UK general insurance, preferably in Retail P&C and/or Private Medical Insurance (PMI) with a background in pricing.

Experience in UK Commercial markets is also advantageous.

Proven leadership abilities to manage key relationships and influence decision-making at senior levels.

Excellent stakeholder management skills, to engage effectively with executives, senior management, underwriters, and pricing specialists.

Deep product knowledge and understanding of the industry landscape, including regulatory requirements.

Strong business acumen and strategic mindset.

Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and a proactive approach to responsibilities.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and situations.
