We're seeking a talented Lead Data Scientist to work on some of our most exciting and complex challenges, developing innovative data science solutions that really make a difference. You'll get to work with our state-of-the-art, cloud-based data lake, build sophisticated machine learning and Agentic AI models, and mentor a squad of talented data scientists. Having a real say in how the business understands and uses data, you'll help shape the future of AXA. Lead and deliver data science projects from start to finish, that provide valuable insights and benefits for the business. Create data science solutions, making sure models are developed, deployed, and monitored effectively using strong LLMOps/MLOps practices. Find opportunities and problems where data science can make a real difference. Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in AI, data science and machine learning through reading, conferences, and industry news. Build connections with universities and contribute to open-source projects to keep the team innovative. Help develop and promote the team's data science strategies and standards. Manage and support a team of data scientists, helping them grow and develop their skills. At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) from December 2026. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition. Expertise in Agentic and Generative AI and their application within regulated environments, such as Financial Services. Proven proficiency in LLMOps/MLOps practices to enable seamless development, deployment, and continuous monitoring of LLMs, agentic systems, and machine learning models in production. Demonstrated knowledge of data science techniques and machine learning models, with practical experience in creating and deploying ML solutions within a business context. Previous roles involving mentoring junior team members within a data science environment. Success in leading end-to-end data science projects that generate measurable business value. Strong proficiency in Python, including familiarity with machine learning libraries, data visualisation tools, and version control systems.
