We've got an exciting opportunity for a Head of Employment Legal to join our UK Group Legal team. You'll provide legal services, advice and assistance, ensuring planning and decision making processes are appropriately informed and that legal, financial and reputational risks are managed. We're looking for a talented, enthusiastic employment lawyer who's ready to take the next step in their career within a friendly and professional team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small team to provide employment legal advice to all levels of Human Resources, Employee Relations, business management and colleagues in the Group Legal team.
- Liaise with General Counsel, senior stakeholders and external lawyers to provide advice, ensuring specialist technical legal, regulatory and commercial considerations are accounted for and risks appropriately managed.
- Oversight of external partners.
- Advise on and manage tribunal claims.
- Provide seminars, reports and training on employment legal issues.
- Monitor, analyse and report on current and potential developments in the law, ensuring risks are managed and effective systems and processes continue to be developed.
- Manage the review, monitoring and updating of HR policies.
Work Arrangements
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.
Your Skills & Experience
- Solicitor or Barrister with experience within regulatory environments is essential.
- Background in Financial Services or Insurance is advantageous.
- Substantial experience and exceptional influencing skills, with ability to build credibility and drive outcomes across senior executive stakeholders, internal teams and external legal partners.
- Management experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to present complex legal information clearly, accurately and in a way that can be understood by the relevant audience.
- Technical expertise combined with sound commercial sense, strategic thinking and the ability to make pragmatic decisions.
- Strong planning, prioritising and organisational skills, a self starter with the ability to operate in a fast paced environment.
- Effective personal impact, flexible approach and a good team player.
