Job overview: You’ll be accountable and responsible for the management of the underwriting teams in the Ipswich branch and contribute to the delivery of the wider business plan for AXA Commercial. With focus on visible leadership on conduct, culture, underwriting excellence, and financial performance, there's also great importance placed on the coaching, development and mentoring of the team. You’ll lead an accountable culture and take responsibility for profitability, income and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate employees to deliver top line and profit.
- Management control of our conduct and underwriting frameworks.
- Internal and external stakeholder networking, proactively seeking and acting on feedback to increase internal and external satisfaction ratings.
- Oversee, organise and deliver operational plans to achieve high standard of service to our customers.
- Maximise process efficiencies, productivity and the use of back-office functions.
- Investigate and implement business improvements and drive a positive change culture.
- Support the deliver and successful implementation of new deals.
- Deliver effective performance management including development, training and succession planning to raise capability and performance.
- Build a positive culture and role model the AXA values.
Work arrangements: At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You’ll work at least three days a week (60%) away from home. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.
Your skills & experience:
- Self-driven individual, able to develop and lead others to be accountable for their own performance.
- Strong Leadership and management skills with a successful record of delivering results.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of building successful long-term relationships both internal & external.
- Committed to coaching, mentoring and wider staff development.
- Pragmatic and confident decision maker with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Deep knowledge of process Management and KPI tracking with the ability to prioritise and manage own, and teams time effectively.
- Resource / capacity management and planning.
- Experience of effective performance management including 121’s, goals and objectives etc.
- Ability to hold effective performance meetings with teams to drive prioritisation, focus, and results.
- Understanding of commercial insurance market and processes, including legislative and regulatory requirements.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
