As Associate Regional Practice Leader, you will collaborate closely with the Property & Construction Claims Teams (International and London Wholesale), Property & Construction Underwriting teams, and also fellow Practice Leaders, playing a pivotal role on some of the most complex claims as well as working with the team to analyse the wider portfolio and share trends and lessons learned. You will be part of the Claims Practice Community, sharing insights and experiences across products and geographies. The role also involves close working with key stakeholders including the Actuarial team and Claims Management.
This is a fantastic role supporting the Regional Claims Practice Leader– Property & Construction with providing technical oversight and coaching of the UK & Lloyd’s Property & Construction Claims Teams as well catastrophe management and reporting. You will help drive a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the claims team and actively support short- and long-term improvement initiatives. AXA XL behaviours and values will be demonstrated at all times.
What you’ll be doing
- Monitoring a portfolio and being the technical expertise point of reference for the largest and most complex losses and potential exposures in Property & Construction, to promote best claim handling practices and ensure compliance with early warning and large loss protocols.
- Providing insights into watchlist developments and emerging risks & trends.
- Provide oversight of large losses and proactively manage litigation strategy on complex claims, including selection and management of external counsel in collaboration with management, Litigation and Claims teams, ensuring adherence to litigation management principles.
- Large Loss Governance: Ensuring that across the portfolio, claims handling is compliant with the Large Loss Framework with active participation and leadership in roundtable and watchlist review meetings.
- Driving accurate and timely reserving of our largest Property & Construction claims.
- Maintain robust reporting, controls and governance across the team, including compliance with the AXA XL Claim Alert and Quality Review processes, and drive a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with brokers, clients, underwriters, actuaries and Practice teams, including supporting new business and renewal activity, client training, marketing, business development and retention initiatives.
- Build and maintain an external network/panel of Experts (Adjusters/Forensic accountants etc) that can work on AXA XL claims across the Globe and also provide value added services to us (such as internal training).
- Lead and support process review and improvement initiatives within the product line, including project management of key initiatives delivered within agreed timescales.
- Depending on future work volumes, the opportunity may arise to work on other lines of business within Claims.
- We have also developed a cross-training program designed to provide team members with the chance to expand their skills and experience across different areas.

- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Technical Claims Handling: Significant Property & Construction claims experience, working knowledge of Lloyd’s Claims Principles, Lloyd’s regulations, and the subscription market and knowledge of legal entities and global claims handling in different jurisdictions.
- Capable of overseeing large losses within teams, including provision of authority, team mentoring and reporting of trends.
- Excellent Collaborator: Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with claims handlers and managers as well as insureds, brokers, underwriters and legal counsel.
- Providing guidance and seeking input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible.
- Supportive of colleagues/emerging talent: Providing support, encouragement and training to colleagues as required.
