Job overview

You’ll be responsible for supporting the build and management of the complex product rating emulators, supporting changes in production systems and ensuring testing accuracy. Reporting to a Commercial Pricing Principal, you’ll also support the development of pricing analysis and modelling. In addition, you’ll also utilise data insight, including external data and technology to drive data‑driven decision making to support the strategic plans of profitable growth. You’ll be expected to present rating recommendations because of the analysis gained.

Key responsibilities

  • Take an active role in the continuing transformation of the commercial lines of business, supporting the development specific strategic projects and BAU pricing tasks, especially in regard of the next generation of platforms, data and modelling systems.
  • Validate, maintain and reconcile quote, exposure and claims data, transforming it to be ready for analysis or modelling.
  • Ensure data and pricing tasks are completed to appropriate standards and timelines; ensuring delivery drives profitable growth.
  • Use external data to augment internal system data to find new commercial insights that will improve profitability.
  • Create and execute pricing and underwriting reviews for profitable development of property, casualty, and motor complex products, building robust models to support decision‑making in pricing and underwriting.
  • Collaborate closely with underwriters, claims teams, and finance to ensure comprehensive support across the business.
  • Support the innovation in new processes and methods, including machine learning and open‑source coding languages, to support the expanding use of external data and the enhanced insights available from the data lake.
  • Maintain suitable governance documentation of rating structures, risk models and evidence that the appropriate approval process is undertaken, whilst supporting regulatory change.
  • Interact effectively and build good relationships within the underwriting, pricing and portfolio management team, as well as branch underwriters to work collaboratively on goals set.
  • Take responsibility for your own development and recognise opportunities to share your knowledge.

Work arrangements

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Your skills & experience

  • Graduate calibre, preferably with specific education in mathematics/statistics or related discipline or qualified by virtue of work experience.
  • Ability to grasp the significance and meaning of a range of technical and complex issues.
  • Good programming skills an advantage e.g. PySpark, Databricks, SAS, PowerBI.
  • Good analytical, presentational and influencing skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, including senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of working within a team, collaborating with peers successfully to achieve the set goal.
