Job overview
We're seeking a highly organised and experienced risk leader to join the AXA Insurance Risk team. Working across AXA Insurance, you’ll lead a team of risk professionals to drive best practice approaches for governance and control management to enhance risk maturity, and make risk management simple and accessible to staff at all levels. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver clarity, consistency, and enable risk and control owners to make informed decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with key senior business stakeholders to embed a culture of proactive risk management and informed decision making.
- Take a lead role to ensure controls within AXA Insurance are well understood, designed, documented and operating effectively.
- Oversee the AXA Insurance Governance framework to enable effective decision-making, identify simplification opportunities and promote industry best practice to ensure an optimised approach.
- Ensure effective operation of the Insurance Risk Committee and sub-committees, managing schedules, content, and proactive action follow-up.
- Report directly to the Director of Risk, Conduct and Governance, deputising on key issues and representing the function at meetings as required.
- Provide insightful and timely risk reporting to the Insurance ExCom and lead the planning, prioritisation, and coordination of risk activities within the Risk Team.
- Drive continuous improvement in risk management through an annual risk maturity plan, including employee training and coaching.
Work arrangements
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We’re also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

- Comfortable with data management, development, and control approaches.
- Proven experience in delivering results through others, coaching, and developing risk staff.
- Knowledge of FCA/PRA requirements, especially around operational risk and associated regulatory expectations for good governance and control.
- Commercial, pragmatic, and delivery-focused with the ability to work at pace.
