The Head of Coverholder Development role will lead a clear UK coverholder commercial strategy and engagement model, working with key internal and external stakeholders. They will actively manage and expand coverholder and related broker relationships, working with the Underwriting teams to help profitably grow the portfolio and to maximise opportunities.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for strengthening the quality and depth of relationships with AXA XL’s coverholders and their brokers and, in doing so, better identify business opportunities for AXA XL.
- Articulate a clear value proposition and engagement model, developing strategies for more effective coverholder interaction, leading to improved performance in business development and retention.
- Actively manage and expand relationships with our key MGA and Broker partners, Trade & Market Associations and Lloyd’s Country Management teams.
- Play an active role in differentiating our MGA Business in a rapidly changing marketplace.
- Work with the UK & Lloyds Broker Management and Alternative Distribution Director on the Coverholder element of strategic broker plans and highlight areas for greater penetration of these books.
- Support the market strategy for the UK & Lloyd’s Business working collaboratively with multiple stakeholder groups.
- Through marketing efforts and the delivery of high quality and original solutions, enhance the reputation of AXA XL as the carrier of choice for coverholder business.
- Work with underwriters to help them retain and grow their books of business while maintaining the highest levels of account service.
- Engage with our governance teams to help them deliver their services in a way that provides an enterprising advantage for AXA XL.
- Champion X-sell: Effectively support the cross-sell process to increase product density.
- Understand the appetite of each line of business and encourage the sharing of opportunities across business lines.
- Deliver One AXA: Maximize opportunities with the broader AXA Group businesses to provide overall solutions and revenue synergies to the business.
- Develop a pipeline of opportunities, metrics and analysis for reporting the effectiveness of coverholder development and engagement.
- Being part of an exceptional team and culture within the UK Distribution Leadership Team.

- Extensive marketing and sales skills including presentation, development, communication and negotiation skills.

- Significant experience of MGAs, underwriting and insurance operations, broking, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Sound understanding and use of targeting, analysis and strategic planning approaches.
- Extensive understanding and familiarity with local insurance markets, distribution channels and competitors.
