As a Senior Specialist in our Alternative Capital Finance team you will support the financial accounting and reporting activities for our Alternative Capital strategies, delivering high-quality reports and analysis to investors, regulators, and internal management. You will have hands-on responsibilities and ownership to ensure that all internal and external reports are comprehensive, accurate, and delivered on time. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly, and demonstrating a proactive attitude with an outstanding sense of accountability in their work. Your work will directly impact investor confidence, regulatory adherence, and the strategic growth of our Alternative Capital strategies. What you’ll be DOING

  • Investor Financial Accounting & Reporting: Prepare and review monthly and quarterly Net Asset Value (NAV), Income Statement and Balance Sheets for our investors. This includes handling the full scope of accounting, reporting, and financial analysis to ensure accurate, transparent, and timely communication with investors.
  • Audit Assistance: Assist in the preparation and review of annual audited financial statements for fund and special purpose insurers and financial statements for the insurance manager, ensuring compliance with IFRS reporting standards. Serve as key point of contact for external auditors, facilitating a seamless audit process and efficiently addressing any queries and requests.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Assist in the preparation of SPI, Fund and Insurance Manager BMA regulatory filings including statutory filings, economic substance returns and insurance manager filings.
  • Group Reporting: Prepare and review accounting entries and quarterly reporting for the insurance manager. Collaborate with AXA XL finance teams and Ceded Re by preparing inputs and analysis to support group financial reporting of ceded ILS programs.
  • Bordereau Management: Assist in the preparation, review, and settlement of bordereau reports, ensuring settlements are prepared accurately within contractual deadlines.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous enhancement of financial accounting and reporting processes for Ceded Re and Alternative Capital strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Establish and maintain robust relationships across the AXA XL Alternative Capital team to coordinate and fulfill reporting and regulatory requirements, as well as to respond to investor queries as they arise. Foster collaborative relationships across various teams, including Operations, Ceded Re, and Divisional Finance, to ensure efficient workflow and data accuracy.
  • Team Development & Support: Provide on-the-job training and guidance to junior team members to enhance their understanding of processes, procedures, and best practices, fostering their professional growth and ensuring team productivity.

You will report to Senior Manager, Financial Reporting and Accounting, Alternative Capital.

What you will BRING

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of technical expertise, proactive attitude, and outstanding communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Big 4 auditing experience of reinsurance companies or some to moderate experience in reinsurance accounting.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS reporting of reinsurance companies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
  • Proficiency or willingness to acquire skills in VBA, Power BI and other automation tools.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information, both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during busy periods.
  • Must be proactive and able to meet challenges as they arise.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multitask with attention to detail.
  • Display excellent stakeholder management skills, with a results-driven approach.
