We’re seeking an experienced individual to join our UK Digital team, as a Front End Developer. This is an exciting opportunity as you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining three key websites within AXA’s business portfolio. As a Front End Developer, you will lead in the development, configuration, testing and management of code across three key brands and platforms. In addition, you should be comfortable engaging directly with internal stakeholders whilst displaying your passion for maintaining a great customer journey.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Technical design and delivery of customer ready screens and designs that meet documented requirements.
- Optimizing websites/web pages, including page load times to ensure that the frontend can handle increasing traffic and data volumes.
- Autonomously conduct regular testing and debugging to identify and fix issues before they impact users.
- Delivering solutions optimised for target audience, including browsers and devices.
- Collaborating with backend developers and other team members to ensure that the frontend and backend are integrated effectively.
- Ensuring a consistent approach to design solutions, coding standards and testing is maintained to ensure smooth progression through environments to production.
- Engaging in post implementation, to support continual improvement and contribute further optimisation recommendations.
- Coding management, you’ll be pro-actively identifying and implementing ways to improve our codebase.
What you’ll bring:
- Previous experience with JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5 is essential.
- Exposure to React and jQuery would be highly beneficial.
- Experience with Google Analytics (or similar).
- Experience working within MS Azure dev ops and backlogs.
- Proven experience of delivering usable web interfaces, with supporting portfolio across browsers and platforms.
- Interest in web accessibility and testing techniques.
- You’ll display good communication and relationship skills with the ability to operate effectively at all levels.
- Understanding of industry trends, particularly in regards to accessibility, usability and emerging technologies.
- You’ll be a strategic thinker, with an interest in problem solving with the ability to develop practical solutions.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
