We're looking for a driven, analytically minded undergraduate to join our team and contribute to data-driven projects, data modelling, and reporting initiatives. This is a placement year offering for 2nd year undergraduates who are looking to complete their placement year within a global actuarial team. The role is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis, to fit around the academic year.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support Underwriting Actuaries with data analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc analytical tasks.
- Contribute to the design and development of senior management reporting packs, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and visual effectiveness.
- Gather and document requirements from actuarial and business stakeholders for new tools and reports.
- Build and maintain automation tools using Python, R, and Excel to improve team efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Tools team to translate business needs into clear technical specifications.
- Communicate findings and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
You will report to Senior Lead, AFR.
What you’ll bring:
- Academic excellence: Working towards an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in Python, RStudio, and Excel (including macros and automation).
- Analytical mindset: Experience with statistical programming, data handling, and financial modelling.
- Communication skills: Ability to present findings clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Requirements gathering: Ability to listen, understand, and translate business needs into structured, actionable briefs.
- Adaptability: Comfortable switching between analytical and creative tasks in a fast-paced environment.
