We're looking for a driven, analytically minded undergraduate to join our team and contribute to data-driven projects, data modelling, and reporting initiatives. This is a placement year offering for 2nd year undergraduates who are looking to complete their placement year within a global actuarial team. The role is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis, to fit around the academic year.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support Underwriting Actuaries with data analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc analytical tasks.
  • Contribute to the design and development of senior management reporting packs, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and visual effectiveness.
  • Gather and document requirements from actuarial and business stakeholders for new tools and reports.
  • Build and maintain automation tools using Python, R, and Excel to improve team efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Tools team to translate business needs into clear technical specifications.
  • Communicate findings and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

You will report to Senior Lead, AFR.

What you’ll bring:

  • Academic excellence: Working towards an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Python, RStudio, and Excel (including macros and automation).
  • Analytical mindset: Experience with statistical programming, data handling, and financial modelling.
  • Communication skills: Ability to present findings clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Requirements gathering: Ability to listen, understand, and translate business needs into structured, actionable briefs.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable switching between analytical and creative tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player: Collaborative by nature, able to work effectively across multiple teams and functions.
