About the role

The

Deputy Branch Manager is required to support the Regional Fleet and Logistics Manager in the effective day-to-day operation of the branch, with a focus on managing Executive Driver logistics and vehicle movements across the designated area.

This role ensures optimal resource utilisation, operational efficiency, and high standards of service delivery, while also contributing to team integration and departmental performance.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities will include

  • lead and oversee a team of Executive Drivers, ensuring optimal utilisation of time, vehicles, and resources to meet operational and client requirements
  • oversee schedule and coordination of vehicle deliveries, collections, and movements across the branch territory, ensuring timely and efficient service
  • monitor and control operational costs through contribution to effective geographical planning, return trip optimisation, and real-time tracking of driver and vehicle locations
  • identify and resolve potential logistical issues in real time to minimise disruption and maintain service standards
  • support and coach new starters, ensuring effective onboarding, job training, and integration into the team
  • monitor departmental absenteeism, taking appropriate action
  • assist the Regional Fleet and Logistics Manager in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the department
  • maintain effective two-way communication with internal departments to stay informed of issues affecting vehicle logistics and respond accordingly
  • take full ownership of team performance management, including attendance, attrition, and People-related matters relating to your direct reports through 1-2-1s and performance feedback sessions
  • oversee approval processes for expenses, overtime, and fuel usage, ensuring compliance and cost control
  • identify and report concerns regarding vehicle roadworthiness to the Fleet team to support fleet utilisation and claims management
  • allocate vehicles in line with business needs and operational priorities
  • carry out reasonable tasks as requested.

You will be a confident and capable leader with strong logistical and operational experience, particularly within a transport or fleet environment.

You will be highly organised, people-focused, and able to manage resources effectively in a fast-paced setting.
