AWS is looking for a Principal Quantum & Cryptography Sales Specialist to lead the adoption of quantum computing, cryptography, and cybersecurity services across the full breadth of UK Public Sector — spanning Central Government, National Security, Defence, Transport, NHS, Local Government, Education, and Non-Profit Organisations. You'll help the UK's most important public institutions build cybersecurity resilience today and prepare for a quantum-safe future. This is a rare opportunity to own a cross-cutting technology domain at a pivotal moment — where advanced persistent threats demand immediate action, and the emergence of quantum computing is reshaping the cryptographic landscape. You'll own the commercial vision for AWS quantum, cryptography, and security services across all UK Public Sector segments, working at the intersection of enterprise sales, emerging technology, and public sector transformation.
- Lead complex, high-value sales engagements across the full UK Public Sector — from classified national security environments to NHS trusts, local councils, and educational bodies.
- Develop and execute the GTM strategy for AWS quantum, cryptography, and cybersecurity services including Amazon Braket, post-quantum TLS, AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, KMS, and CloudHSM.
- Work with senior public sector leaders to position AWS as the platform of choice for cybersecurity resilience and quantum-safe transformation.
- Operate with genuine autonomy to shape strategy, build pipeline, and close deals that matter.
Key job responsibilities:
- Drive revenue growth by leading multi-stakeholder sales engagements from opportunity identification through to close across Central Government, Defence, National Security, NHS, Local Government, Education, and Non-Profit Organisations — navigating both classified and unclassified environments.
- Develop and execute a go-to-market plan for AWS quantum, cryptography, and cybersecurity services across UK Public Sector — identifying the highest-value use cases in areas such as threat detection, zero-trust architecture, cryptographic modernisation, post-quantum migration planning, secure patient data, citizen data protection, and research data security.
- Apply value-based selling to articulate the mission impact of cybersecurity and quantum adoption — connecting technology to operational resilience, regulatory compliance, citizen trust, and national security outcomes.
- Compete effectively in a contested market, differentiating AWS against specialist cybersecurity vendors, sovereign cryptographic solutions, and alternative quantum platforms with commercially creative deal structures that work across varied public sector procurement constraints (classified programmes, G-Cloud, Crown Commercial Service, NHS procurement routes, local government buying consortia).
- Build and maintain a qualified pipeline across cybersecurity, cryptographic services, and emerging quantum technologies — forecast accurately and report on domain performance including win rates, partner attach, and strategic account progress.
- Engage key partners — systems integrators, specialist cybersecurity vendors, and quantum technology companies — to build a trusted ecosystem that accelerates adoption across all public sector segments.
- Feed market insight back to AWS product and specialist teams to influence roadmap priorities around sovereign security capabilities, public sector compliance, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum-safe architectures.
- Collaborate with Solutions Architects, security specialists, and technical colleagues to bring the right expertise to every customer engagement.
A day in the life:
You might start the morning preparing for a briefing with a central government CISO on cryptographic modernisation and post-quantum readiness, then jump to a call with an NHS trust's IT security lead exploring how AWS can strengthen their threat detection and data protection posture. Afternoons could see you building a business case with your Solutions Architect for a quantum-safe pilot with a defence organisation, or shaping a deal structure that navigates classified procurement alongside NHS framework requirements. You'll regularly connect with account teams, security-cleared partners, and AWS product teams — translating frontline insight into action. Your customers range from CISOs in Whitehall and security directors in national security to IT directors in NHS trusts, local authority digital leads, and heads of research computing in universities.
About the team:
You'll join the AWS UK Public Sector Specialist Sales team — domain experts who combine commercial rigour with genuine mission orientation. We value autonomy, curiosity, and impact: specialists here own their strategies and operate independently, backed by world-class technical support and one of the most innovative platforms on the planet. The UK public sector AI landscape — across health, local government, and non-profits — is fast-moving and high-impact. If you want to shape how emerging technology transforms public services at national scale, this is the team.
- Experience working with, presenting to, and negotiating with C-level executives, IT, lines of business, procurement, finance, legal and internal stakeholders for sizeable commercial/enterprise deals.
- Experience developing detailed go to market plans.
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C-level executives and cross-functional teams.
- Experience selling cybersecurity and/or cryptography solutions, ideally into public sector organisations.
- Proven track record in enterprise or public sector technology sales, with demonstrable experience of closing complex, high-value deals.
- Experience of value-based and competitive selling in a technology context, ideally within cybersecurity, cryptography, or adjacent domains.
- High degree of intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technical concepts — particularly in fast-evolving domains like quantum computing and cryptography.
- Existing UK Security Clearance, or willingness to undergo and maintain UK national security vetting as required by elements of the role.
- Experience selling quantum computing solutions and knowledge of their potential application in public sector settings.
- Existing Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
- Understanding of cryptographic principles, key management, or post-quantum cryptography standards (NIST PQC).
- Understanding of public sector procurement, including frameworks such as G-Cloud, Government Commercial Agency agreements, NHS Shared Business Services, and local government buying consortia.
- Experience working in or alongside a specialist sales function or cybersecurity practice.
- Understanding of sovereign cloud requirements, air-gapped deployment models, and NCSC-approved security architectures.
