AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

WHAT DOES A SYSTEMS ENGINEER DO AT AMAZON?

Our Systems Engineering roles help engineers develop a broad range of skills. They utilise their Linux skills to troubleshoot, innovate fixes and workarounds, keep software up-to-date and provide data and metrics that help manage the capacity and efficiency of our services. They draw on their networking knowledge to identity and troubleshoot network connectivity issues. They communicate clearly and collaborate with others to deliver results. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Working knowledge of Linux system administration and experience of systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc
• Experience of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
• Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of configuration management systems, such as: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or related systems
• Experience in a production environment
• Experience of monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar)
