Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Risk Consultant with a strong background in EPA Licensing chemical engineering and extensive experience with Seveso Directive regulations. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of professional experience, including a proven track record in managing environmental risks in high-hazard industries. This role involves providing expert consultancy on environmental risk assessments, compliance with Seveso regulations, and advising on safety improvements for chemical facilities and other high-risk operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Environmental Risk Assessment:
- Conduct comprehensive environmental risk assessments for chemical plants and other high-risk facilities, focusing on compliance with Seveso III Directive requirements.
- Evaluate potential environmental hazards, including chemical spills, emissions, and other industrial accidents.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimise environmental impact and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Seveso Directive Compliance:
- Provide expert advice on Seveso Directive compliance, including preparation and review of safety reports and major accident prevention policies.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, ensuring all necessary documentation and safety protocols are in place and up to date.
- Assist clients in the development and testing of emergency response plans, ensuring readiness for potential incidents.
- Technical Consultancy:
- Apply chemical engineering expertise to analyse complex processes, identifying potential risks and recommending safety enhancements.
- Conduct technical assessments of process safety, including HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study), LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis), and quantitative risk assessments.
- Advise on the design and operation of safety systems, including pressure relief, containment, and fire protection systems.
- Client Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear and actionable advice on environmental risk management.
- Prepare and deliver detailed reports, presentations, and proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Support clients in achieving their environmental and safety objectives through tailored consultancy services.
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, coordinating efforts to achieve project goals.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations in project execution.
- Training and Mentorship:
- Provide training and guidance to junior consultants, fostering their development in environmental risk management and chemical engineering.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional certification preferred.
