We are seeking a hands-on, commercially minded Corporate Tax Manager to join our agile and dynamic UK-based organisation, within a large sized international group. This is a standalone role, ideal for a candidate who thrives in an autonomous environment while benefiting from senior-level support. You’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of corporate taxation—from compliance to advisory—while contributing to high-value transactions and strategic decisions. You will support the group tax function and have exposure to all tax heads.
This role is particularly suited to someone from a Big 4 or Top Tier practice background with strong in-house commercial experience and deep knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation, transfer pricing, and HMRC investigations. You should be proactive, technically excellent, and eager to roll your sleeves up and make a tangible impact across the business.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the end-to-end corporate tax lifecycle including tax return review and submission, group reliefs, QIPs, and loan relationships.
- Lead on transfer pricing reviews and documentation, ensuring full compliance with BEPS and UK requirements.
- Handle and respond to HMRC investigations and enquiries, liaising with stakeholders as required.
- Support and manage corporate tax audits, SAO programme, R&D claims, and documentation.
- Provide corporate restructuring advice (e.g., group reorganisations, refinancing, M&A transactions).
- Work cross-functionally on transactional projects, including Tax DD and business structuring.
- Advise on legal structure optimisation, tax risk management, and governance.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors on technical tax matters.
- Support broader business objectives by aligning tax strategy with commercial goals.
- Engage with senior leadership and provide clear, actionable insights on tax implications of key decisions.
- Coach and mentor junior finance or tax team members as the function grows.
- Promote collaboration with Audit, Accounts, and Legal teams for accurate and compliant tax reporting.
- ACA / CA / ACCA / CTA or equivalent qualified (Essential)
- 4–8+ years in Corporate Tax with significant UK experience (Essential)
- Deep technical knowledge of UK Corporate Tax Law and Transfer Pricing (Essential)
- Strong written and verbal communication, able to simplify complex tax for non-specialists (Essential)
- CTA post-qualification with advanced tax training
- Prior experience in an in-house commercial tax role
- Exposure to cross-border tax planning and OECD frameworks
- Experience managing tender documents, client pitches, or BD activities
- A problem-solver with a pragmatic, commercial mindset.
