AWI Civitas is seeking reliable and experienced HGV Class 2 (Category C) Drivers for regional multi-drop and palletised freight distribution operations based in Bury St Edmunds. Conveniently positioned with direct access to the A14, A134, and A143 corridors, this role offers guaranteed shift hours and dependable long-term stability with temp-to-perm pathways for dedicated drivers.
Key Details & Responsibilities
- Hours: 45 – 50 hours per week (Monday to Friday day shifts, standard 06:00/07:00 starts)
- Start Date: Immediate starts available following standard site induction and driving assessment
- Safe Transport: Rigid vehicle distribution, multi-drop deliveries to commercial sites, and regional freight runs across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, and Norfolk
- Vehicle Checks: Conducting daily pre-trip walk-around safety inspections and logging any vehicle/tail-lift defects
- Compliance: Ensuring safe tail-lift operation, load security/strapping, and strict adherence to EU Drivers’ Hours and digital tachograph rules
- Documentation: Accurate handling of delivery manifests, customer signature capture, and digital Proof of Delivery (POD) confirmations
Requirements
- Licence & Cards: Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence, Driver CPC qualification card, and Digital Tachograph card
- Experience: Minimum 6–12 months commercial Class 2 driving experience preferred (prior multi-drop or tail-lift/pallet truck experience advantageous)
- Clean Record: Maximum 6 penalty points (strictly no DR/DD/IN endorsement codes)
- Professional Standards: High standards of road safety, punctuality, and a professional customer-facing manner
