We are seeking reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Drivers for ongoing distribution and logistics operations based in Bedford. Perfectly positioned with direct access via the A421, M1 (Junction 13), and A1 corridors, this role offers competitive hourly earnings, predictable shift rotas, and dependable long-term stability with temp-to-perm opportunities for dedicated drivers.

Key Details & Responsibilities

  • Hours: 45 – 50 hours per week (Choice of standard day trunks, twilight, or fixed night shifts)
  • Start Date: Immediate starts available following depot induction and driving assessment
  • Safe Transport: Depot-to-depot trunking, store deliveries, and inter-hub freight movement across the Midlands and South East networks
  • Vehicle Checks: Performing thorough daily walk-around defect checks and logging vehicle roadworthiness
  • Compliance: Maintaining strict compliance with EU Drivers' Hours, the Working Time Directive (WTD), and digital tachograph regulations
  • Documentation: Accurate handling of electronic consignments, load sheets, and proof of delivery (POD) paperwork

Requirements

  • Licence & Cards: Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, Driver CPC qualification card, and Digital Tachograph card
  • Proven commercial Class 1 driving experience, a valid licence with no more than 6 minor points, and strictly no DR, DD, or IN endorsements.
  • Professional Attitude: High commitment to road safety, punctuality, and defensive driving practices
  • Communication: Clear communication skills and a professional attitude when representing the company across regional distribution hubs
