Awel Aman Tawe (AAT) is one of the UK's most established community energy organisations.
For 27 years we have been pioneering community-led solutions to climate change, fuel poverty and economic inequality.
We have developed two renewable energy co-operatives, created local jobs and opportunities and invested surplus income into low carbon community resilience projects.
In 2025 we opened Hwb y Gors, a flagship low carbon headquarters and community hub in the Upper Amman Valley.
Today AAT is demonstrating how community ownership, creativity and climate action can work together to create lasting change.
We are entering an exciting and pivotal phase.
Alongside our established renewable energy assets, we are developing new infrastructure, including a solar farm and battery storage project which will share the grid connection with our existing wind turbines (one of the UK’s first “tribrid” systems).
We are also advancing shared ownership wind and solar projects with commercial developers – these are multi-million pound projects and will be getting built over the next 2-10 years.
We are also expanding our portfolio of community, education and enterprise activities.
We are a dynamic, values-driven organisation with a strong track record and ambitious plans for the future.
