Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: £45,760 - £65,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience).

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application.

Let us introduce the role: AWE is currently recruiting for a SHE Manager. The SHE Manager will task manage a multidiscipline team with the aim of achieving excellent performance in safety, health and environment throughout that area.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Establishing with customer/s appropriate SHE service schedules (including proportionate ESH improvement programmes) and deliver the required services to time and cost by routinely monitoring performance against the schedule.
  • Task Management of a multidiscipline team within their current area of deployment, including utilisation across the business.
  • Interfacing with Technical Leads/Line Managers of SHE Staff deployed to the area of deployment and be actively involved with development and objective setting activities.
  • Ensuring appropriate utilisation of deployed HSE Staff and managing instances of over and underutilisation.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.

Additional accountabilities for this job profile may be defined and appointed through the Chief Engineer Management Arrangements, with appointees listed within the Company Design Authorities and Technical Authorities, as held in the company management system.

Influence operational hazards are identified / risk controlled.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we would like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Degree or vocational qualification or equivalent / NEBOSH.
  • Good understanding of all SHE disciplines e.g., Process Safety, Environment, Safety Cases, etc.
  • Understanding of current HSE management system standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, HSG65 and ISO 45001.
  • Understanding of current HSE legislation, standards and guidance (including Licence conditions) relevant to the role.
  • Able to anticipate problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Able to readily adapt and respond quickly to changing situations and the changing needs of others.

Important things you need to know: You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
