Let us introduce the role: AWE is currently recruiting a Senior Logistics Manager for the Logistics and Transportation Group. The role is ideally suited to a strong leader with great communication skills and a background in manufacturing logistics. Working within the Logistics and Transportation Group, the successful candidate will be working within a high volume manufacturing environment, providing management and leadership for a logistics team in support of material planning and logistics activities for programme and operational demand.

You’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
Key Accountabilities:
- Management and leadership of all logistics personnel within your area, ensuring the logistics team have the appropriate capabilities to fulfil their tasks now and to meet future business requirements.
- Lead and promote through life management Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), consumables and critical spares required within your area to support capability and operational deliverables, from demand identification through to disposition.
- Accountable for the receipt and issue of materials and inventory within your area, including engagement with external and internal stakeholders.
- Manage and lead effective inventory management and control of stock within your area, liaising with Supply Chain Management, transport and reporting inventory and storage performance to the central logistics sub function.
- Oversee effective warehousing activities, ensuring appropriate storage of materials and assets and arranging for any in store inspection/testing/maintenance (as appropriate) within your area to the corporate standards. Lead and develop storage models to support your area.
- Manage and lead effective transport activities within your area. Where transport is provided by central teams or contracted resources, engage with the relevant stakeholders to ensure distribution meets the business need within your area.
- Deliver improvements in performance for all aspects of logistics within your area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure performance metrics, procedures, processes, and standards are implemented and maintained.
- Provide input and inventory related risks/issues as part of the Senior Management Team of your respective area.
- Ensure robust arrangements are in place for the identification and mitigation of risks.
- Facilitate resolution of inventory queries/issues through cross-functional collaboration and discussion with wider stakeholders and customers.
- Lead and support team to enable delivery.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
