Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: £35,000 to £44,000 (dependent on suitability and level of experience) + an additional allowance of £2,038.

AWE is looking for a Facility Engineer to join our dynamic team. As part of AWE Production and Assets, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving the performance and reliability of our cutting-edge equipment. From installation and breakdown support to maintenance, servicing, and error mapping, your work will directly impact plant efficiency and uptime.

This is more than just a maintenance role - it’s a chance to develop your expertise in Machine Tool design through bespoke, high-impact projects across diverse facilities. You’ll collaborate closely with Capital Projects teams, applying the Machinery Directive and relevant standards to ensure compliance and innovation go hand in hand.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

  • A completed engineering apprenticeship with a minimum NVQ Level 3 and hands-on Industry experience with machine tools.
  • A solid understanding of plant operations, equipment, and industrial processes.
  • Familiarity with modern maintenance practices, tools, and technologies.
  • Confidence in using fault-finding techniques to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
  • A working knowledge of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and a commitment to upholding them.

While this isn’t a checklist, we’d love to hear from you if you have experience in any of the following areas:

  • Applying a high level of technical skill to carry out a broad range of maintenance tasks on plant and equipment - safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Staying informed about relevant legislation and standards under the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Using your technical know-how to diagnose and resolve faults across a variety of systems.
  • Supporting and mentoring team members and apprentices, helping to build a strong, capable workforce.
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding of your responsibilities in relation to Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality standards.
