AWE is currently recruiting for a Senior Machine Tools Engineer. AWE Machine Tool Engineering (MTE) are responsible for performing a variety of Machine Tool lifecycle activities from assistance with installation, breakdown, maintenance, servicing, and error mapping in order to optimise plant and equipment availability. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in Machine Tool design on challenging bespoke projects across a range of facilities. This will require a focussed and consistent approach working with and directing Capital projects, where the Machinery Directive and associated standards and legislative requirements will be applied in full.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship with a minimum NVQ Level 4 or equivalent work experience.
  • C&G (as appropriate) / ONC/HNC or above.
  • A high level of knowledge of plant, equipment and processes related to trade.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • A proven competence with regard to machine tool calibration and set up, with experience in the disassembly/assembly of complex precision mechanical assemblies and geometric alignment.
  • A strong working history of machine tool maintenance and service delivery.
  • The ability to construct and compile complex PLC ladder programs to adhere to safety standards.
  • Established knowledge in the importance, implementation, and construction of PPM routines.
  • Advanced abilities in fault-finding techniques and methods surrounding mechanical, electrical and PLC programming.
  • The ability to work autonomously and mentor at all levels.
  • A detailed understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act and its application.
  • High level of understanding in the application of Safe Systems of work (SSoW).
