We are looking for a Risk Manager to join our team at AWE Nuclear Security Technologies.

Package: £45,590 to £65,000 dependant on experience

Location: RG7 4PR , located between Reading and Basingstoke

AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application. Up to 3 days on site here at RG7 4PR or at Green Park (Reading.

Introducing the role:

As a Risk Manager at AWE, you\’ll play a crucial role in national security by managing risks across key business functions. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to work on some of the UK\’s most complex infrastructure programmes.

A Typical Day:

  • Leading and managing risk, opportunity, and issue management across defined business functions.
  • Delivering a consolidated view of total risk exposure against strategic objectives at the enterprise level.
  • Embed risk, opportunity, and issue processes and drive reporting accuracy.
  • Conducting assessments and reviews of existing risks.
  • Developing strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Review and update Risk Management policy artefacts.
  • Applying risk management methodologies and risk analysis tools.
  • Supporting business functions in maintaining their risk registers.
  • Supporting 2nd Line Assurance review activities.
  • Supporting the enterprise risk management team to increase the maturity of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Enterprise Risk Management in managing and maintaining an end-to-end risk profile.
  • Present risk profiles and assessments in reports and governance processes.
  • Attend and facilitate risk meetings.
  • Understand the business financial model and contribute to performance and delivery reviews.
  • Provide strategic and tactical risk insight and thinking.

  • Professional qualification in Risk Management. (IRM)
  • Experience in managing corporate risks and their controls.
  • Experience in testing risk controls.
  • Proficiency with risk management tools including ARM and Bowtie.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and create strong relationships.
  • A confident and effective communicator.
