Let us introduce the role: AWE's Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) team is currently recruiting for an Operations Specialist to support our team with designing, developing, and delivering training programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to our dynamic, fast-paced and technically challenging area. Our NTR Training Team work closely with external stakeholders to provide operational response capability. Within this role, the successful candidate will be required to complete operational planning, learning and development including:
- Supports the development of future requirements for the operational response capability.
- Adhere to all NTR standards, policies, and processes.
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
- Required to undertake learning needs analysis, design, development, delivery and review of learning interventions that support the acquisition of appropriate competencies for the NTR and relevant emergency response personnel (both internal and external to AWE).
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysis, development, design, and delivery of training courses for NTR operational responders, NTR staff and end users.
- Undertakes continuous improvement and implements solutions as required.
- The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
Who are we looking for? We are interested in hearing from candidates with experience of carrying out detailed Training Needs Analysis with stakeholders, subject matter experts and end users, to identify comprehensive requirements that enable the development of appropriate training interventions. Proficiency in the delivery of consistent, relevant and effective learning that ensures the course aims and objectives are met is also a requirement.
We do need you to have the following:
- Qualifications equivalent to membership, or working towards membership, of a professional body or equivalent experience.
- A fundamental awareness of how a Learning Management System operates.
- Training delivery using a variety of styles and techniques.
- Experience of designing and implementing e-learning.
- Experience or awareness of designing and delivering training programmes.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience of:
- Proven ability to communicate well (both written and verbal).
- Experience of establishing excellent working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- An ability to work comfortably in a high-pressure environment.
- Good problem solving and project management skills.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
