AWE is currently recruiting for an Emergency Planning Officer. In this exciting, challenging role, no 2 days will be the same. You will deliver technical specialism and support to provide an emergency planning and preparedness capability for AWE in accordance with company and legal standards to ensure our sites are safe and secure.

You will be involved in the management and development of emergency response against the AWE hazards and fault scenarios, as well as the design and implementation of specific emergency response arrangements and plans. This requires detailed planning, delivery, testing and exercising of plans and response structures to ensure they are fit for purpose in the event of an incident. This role will suit someone who has excellent problem-solving skills and is a great communicator.

Who are we looking for?

  • A qualification and/or suitable experience in Emergency Response, Emergency Planning or a related subject
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in high hazard/highly regulated environments
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate options and formulate effective solutions
  • Ability to manage and resolve complex cross-discipline, technical and organisational issues
  • Great stakeholder management skills, including customer and regulators

You will need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
