AWE is currently recruiting for a Delivery Manager (Steam & Gas Utilities) to lead a team to deliver a variety of projects, upgrades and support tasks across the AWE estate. This role is ideally suited to someone with construction order-book delivery/project management experience within a technical environment, with a strong understanding of delivery within a live operational space.
The successful candidate will provide support to the Senior Network Management team by working with the Steam and Gas Network Manager and Operations team to:
- Facilitate and support the delivery of routine projects to proactively manage risk across the network
- Provide and facilitate Network SME support to other projects across site
- Provide uninterrupted service to AWE's operational site in support of our core mission
- Manage natural resource use across the network
We need you to demonstrate experience in the following:
- Effective Stakeholder Management
- Team leadership and task management
- Orderbook Management
- Construction / CDM experience
- Financial control and reporting
- Identifying and delivering to technical and regulatory requirements
We'd like you to have experience in some of the following:
- Line-management
- Formal Risk Management
- Technician Based Apprenticeship / NVQ3 or a Project Management qualification i.e. APMQ / Prince 2
- Fully conversant with utilities plant, government energy policies & strategies
- Ability to manage plant failures and deliver under pressure
- Experience of Management of operational plant & teams
You’ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

- You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE.
- The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
- Flexible working is available for this role on an informal, non-contractual basis.
