We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at PointWire for a Technology Engineer to support cyber defence, endpoint security and IT infrastructure, delivering secure technology solutions across client and internal environments.

SALARY: £35,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits
LOCATION: Remote working available. However, you will be required to attend client sites, which may involve some overnight stays (fully expensed)

JOB OVERVIEW
As a Technology Engineer, you will play a key role in Cyber Defence and Engineering, focusing on the deployment, management and enhancement of security platforms, tools and controls across our clients and internal operations at PointWire. Your responsibilities will include implementing and fine-tuning security tools to protect sensitive data, mitigate threats and safeguard our clients’ assets, systems, networks, and users.
Working as a Technology Engineer you will collaborate with cross-function teams including cybersecurity, IT, engineering, architects, and analysts to integrate and manage security technologies, ensuring compliance with UK regulations such as GDPR, NCSC Guidelines, industry best practices (ISO27001, CISSP) and contractual security obligations.
Reporting to an ‘Expert of Technology’, as a Technology Engineer will be part of a team delivering technical work packages, leveraging in-depth yet broad expertise across the following areas: Endpoint Management, Endpoint & Network Detection and Response Tools, Technical Compliance Applications, Defence Technologies, Change Request Management and Security Automation, with a strong passion for Security.

Since our establishment in 2019, we have partnered with several leading software providers in the cyber security space including Corelight, Crowdstrike, Deep Instinct, Microsoft, Titania, and Tanium. Our clients range from 100s to 100,000s of employees and devices; with our services helping to augment the capabilities of in-house security and operation teams enabling automation to improve effectiveness.
DUTIES
- Service Desk Support: Manage and resolve Level 1, 2, and 3 Service Desk tickets independently with minimal support.
- Technical Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Provide effective technical support across systems and applications, ensuring issues are identified, logged and resolved effectively.
- Enterprise OS Support: Demonstrate a solid understanding of at-least one enterprise-level operating system (e.g. Windows, Linux, MacOS).
- Endpoint, Network Management, and Security: Develop expertise in PointWire’s preferred tooling, providing our clients effective endpoint management, security, and compliance with industry best practices.
- Contribute to Internal Initiatives: Participate in projects, process improvements and technical enhancements with the team.
- Documentation & Knowledge Management: Create, Review and maintain documentation for systems, configurations, processes and procedures.
- Collaboration & Communication: Engage effectively with colleagues, users, clients and partners through clear oral and written communication.

- Willingness to travel: We do not have an office, so we do expect to get together as a team on team building events, sales kick-offs, marketing events, client meetings, partner meetings, etc. Important note: There will be an expectation to travel to customer sites as reasonably required so if you are looking for a fully work from home role with no travel whatsoever this is not the role for you. Don’t worry - travel costs can be expensed.
Education, Certifications & Technical Expertise:
- Certifications & Tools: Relevant certifications (e.g. A+, Network+, Security+) are highly desirable, with additional advantage for Tanium, Corelight, Titania (Nipper), and CrowdStrike (including Next-Gen SIEM and Falcon). Experience or certifications in tools such as Mimecast, Zscaler, Tenable, Sophos, Rapid7 are also beneficial.
- Systems & Endpoint Management: Proven experience managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Workstations & Server Environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy. Hands on experience with endpoint management tools like MECM/SCCM, Intune, Tanium or Management is advantageous.
- Network & Security: Strong understanding of network protocols, firewall management and security principles. Experience with security monitoring tools such as PRTG, Nagios and backup solutions like Veeam is beneficial, as with SIEM & SOAR technologies such as Elastic, Splunk, Phantom.
- Virtualisation & Automation: Knowledge of virtualisation technologies like VMWare, Hyper-V, and Proxmox, along with experience in PowerShell, Python, Ansible and other automation languages.
- IT Frameworks & Best Practices: Familiarity with ITIL Principles and fundamental business operations.
