WORKING HOURS: Monday Thursday: 7.00am 3.30pm and Friday: 7.00am 2.30pm
JOB OVERVIEW: We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a CNC Machinist Team Leader with high-level turning and milling expertise within a precision engineering and manufacturing environment. As the CNC Machinist Team Leader you will support the day-to-day running of machining sections, ensuring quality standards, production efficiency and continuous improvement targets are achieved. Working within a modern engineering facility, the CNC Machinist Team Leader will programme, manufacture and inspect precision components using CNC machining centres, tooling systems and technical drawings while supporting staff development and mentoring apprentices. The role offers excellent long-term career progression, overtime opportunities and a supportive working environment within a growing engineering organisation.
DUTIES:
- Manufacturing Precision Components: Produce components to engineering drawings and specifications using CNC turning and milling machinery
- Programming CNC Machines: Create and adjust CNC programmes using Haas, Heidenhain, Fanuc and Siemens controls
- Maintaining Quality Standards: Follow ISO 9001:2015 procedures and ensure all work meets required quality standards
- Supporting Production Operations: Assist with the day-to-day organisation of staff, materials and equipment within machining sections
- Improving Processes: Support tooling libraries, standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentoring Team Members: Assist with staff training, development and apprentice mentoring activities
- Reading Technical Drawings: Interpret engineering drawings, geometric tolerances and machining specifications accurately
- Promoting Health & Safety: Follow company health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience in CNC machining, programming, turning and milling operations
- Proven experience of working with Haas, Heidenhain, Fanuc and Siemens controls
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and geometric tolerances
- Experience working with castings, forgings, alloy steels and stainless steels
- Knowledge of modern machining practices, tooling and measuring equipment
- Previous experience in staff supervision, mentoring or training activities
- Ability to produce high-quality precision components to tight tolerances
- Experience with vices, jigs, fixtures, angle plates and rotary axis machining
- CAM software knowledge would be advantageous
