LOCATION: Board meetings are held in person at the Head Office in Evesham, Worcestershire and committee meetings are held via Microsoft Teams

TIME COMMITMENT: An average of approximately 3 days commitment per month

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Social Housing Community Board Member to join a forward-thinking organisation committed to strong governance, customer voice, and community impact. This role plays a key part in shaping strategy and ensuring services continue to meet customer needs in a challenging operating environment.

As a Social Housing Community Board Member you will bring lived experience as a current customer, contributing insight into the realities faced by local communities. You will work collaboratively with fellow Board members and the Executive Team to support sound decision-making and organisational performance.

The Social Housing Community Board Member will attend in-person Board meetings at the organisation's head office and participate in online committee meetings. This is a rewarding opportunity to influence services, uphold governance standards, and help drive positive change.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Social Housing Community Board Member include:

  • Providing Customer Insight: Representing the views and experiences of customers to inform Board decisions
  • Strategic Contribution: Supporting the development and delivery of organisational strategy
  • Governance Oversight: Upholding high standards of governance, accountability, and ethical conduct
  • Board Participation: Attending Board meetings in person and committee meetings online
  • Performance Monitoring: Contributing to the oversight of organisational performance and risk
  • Collaboration: Working constructively with Board colleagues and the Executive Team
  • Decision Making: Supporting robust, balanced, and well-informed decision-making

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Lived experience as a current customer of a social housing provider
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by local communities
  • Ability to contribute constructively at Board level
  • Willingness to uphold strong governance and accountability standards
  • Confidence to share views and challenge appropriately

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of the social housing sector
  • Experience of working in a governance, advisory, or representative role

The role requires a standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for all new Members.
