We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant to join a finance business partnering team on an 18-month fixed term contract. As a Senior Management Accountant you will provide strategic financial advice, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and year‑end support, working with senior stakeholders and service budget holders. The Senior Management Accountant will support governance, statutory accounts, financial systems, process improvement and training, helping services make sound, value‑for‑money decisions.

Duties

  • Financial Business Partnering: Support senior stakeholders, managers and service budget holders with strategic financial decision‑making
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support financial planning, budget monitoring, forecasting, year‑end closedown and statutory returns
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver timely, accurate and insightful financial reports to management and senior finance stakeholders
  • Governance and Compliance: Promote strong financial governance and share best practice on legislative and guidance changes
  • Process Improvement: Identify, develop and support initiatives that improve service delivery and financial processes
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, senior staff and external parties
  • Training and Development: Assist with the delivery of financial acumen training to upskill managers and service teams
  • Service Support: Support the business to become more commercially minded while maintaining effective financial control

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree‑level, equivalent relevant professional qualifications or expertise
  • Qualified or actively working towards Professional accounting qualifications, CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive self‑starter with the ability to drive change and challenge the existing processes
  • Strong problem solving skills and able to analyse complex issues and deliver practical, value adding solutions
  • Advanced data analysis capabilities and strong understanding of financial systems and reporting tools
  • Experience or awareness of the housing sector is desirable, but not essential
