We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker (Advocate) with previous experience supporting vulnerable adults and children within domestic abuse, safeguarding or community support services. Working as the Domestic Abuse Support Worker (Advocate) you will provide frontline support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse, carrying a caseload that includes risk assessment, safety planning, safeguarding and multi-agency partnership working.

As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker (Advocate) you will support individuals through one-to-one and group work interventions, helping clients access services, make informed choices and live free from abuse using a trauma-informed and person-centred approach. You will need excellent communication skills, resilience, strong case management ability and experience working with vulnerable individuals within safeguarding or support environments.

DUTIES

  • Providing Frontline Support: Deliver practical and emotional support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse through telephone and face-to-face interventions.
  • Managing Caseloads: Carry out risk assessments, needs assessments, support planning, case reviews and maintain accurate case records.
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Individuals: Identify safeguarding concerns involving adults and children and respond appropriately within safeguarding procedures.
  • Advocating for Clients: Support service users to access housing, legal, healthcare and community support services.
  • Attending Multi-Agency Meetings: Participate in MARAC, Team Around the Family meetings, safeguarding conferences and partnership meetings.
  • Facilitating Group Work: Deliver support groups and awareness sessions around healthy relationships, domestic abuse and the impact on children.
  • Maintaining Accurate Records: Update databases, reports and case management systems in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
  • Building Professional Relationships: Work collaboratively with external agencies and internal teams to deliver effective joined-up support.
  • Supporting Service Delivery: Contribute towards performance targets, quality standards and continuous service improvement.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The post holder must be female.
  • Previous experience supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse or vulnerable individuals within a professional setting.
  • Experience managing a caseload including risk assessment, safety planning and support planning.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children, domestic abuse dynamics and trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive professional relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-agency environment.
  • Strong report writing, administration and organisational skills.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams and database systems.
  • A client-centred, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in a related field.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience facilitating support groups or awareness sessions.
  • Knowledge of criminal and civil justice remedies relating to domestic abuse.
  • Understanding of motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Experience working within safeguarding or multi-agency frameworks.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
