A CNC Machinist is required to operate CNC and manual machines within a heavy engineering, manufacturing and machining environment, using engineering drawings, Fanuc controls and quality standards.

SALARY: £32,708 - £34,632 per annum (£17 - £18 per Hour) + Benefits

LOCATION: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours a Week. 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with half an hour lunch break. 8am to 1pm, Friday

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a CNC Machinist to run CNC and manual machines within a heavy engineering and manufacturing environment. As a CNC Machinist you will carry out machining operations in line with approved manufacturing routes, engineering drawings, geometrical tolerances and quality assurance standards. The CNC Machinist will also support continuous improvement, maintain machinery checks and lubrication, and take care of measuring equipment while working as part of a skilled machining team.

DUTIES

  • Machining Operations: Ensure machining operations and processes are carried out effectively in line with approved manufacturing routes and quality standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively pursue improvements in assembly methods and techniques, making recommendations for implementation when appropriate.
  • Machine Checks: Ensure machinery and equipment is adequately maintained and regularly checked for lubrication.
  • Measuring Equipment: Take care of measuring equipment and report any defective or out‑of‑calibration items.
  • Lifting Equipment: Ensure all lifting and transportation equipment is used appropriately.
  • Quality Standards: Work to high standards and ensure the required quality is achieved when undertaking tasks.
  • Team Working: Share ideas and knowledge that support continuous improvement across the machining department.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Apprentice Trained: Apprentice trained mechanical engineer.
  • Measuring Equipment: Ability to use manual measuring equipment.
  • Engineering Drawings: Good understanding of engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances.
  • CNC Programming: Knowledge of CNC programming.
  • Fanuc Controls: Experience working with a horizontal machining centre and Fanuc control.
  • Problem Solving: Self‑motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to solve problems as they arise.
  • Initiative: Able to work using own initiative and under pressure, asking for help when required.
  • Team Values: Respectful, inclusive and able to work as part of a small team.

DESIRABLE

  • Heidenhain Controls: Experience of working with Heidenhain controls.
  • Heavy Engineering: Experience of working within the heavy engineering industry.
