JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Trainee Technician who is keen to learn new skills within the engineering / construction testing industry.
Working as the Trainee Technician you will be highly motivated and committed individual to provide technical and physical support to a small growing project team within the business. The role, which will predominantly be site based, is undertaking projects such as; structural load testing to British Standard or bespoke requirements, environmental monitoring and potentially bespoke structural monitoring installations and maintenance, nationwide. You will be joining a small dynamic and multi-disciplinary team.
As the Trainee Technician your roll will include a dynamic mixture of mainly daily on-site work (travelling nationwide), and also a small percentage of work at the company’s testing facilities in Ellesmere Port. You will be working closely with a more experienced staff member whilst basic training is undertaken and shall provide assistance to undertake any works delegated.
DUTIES
Your duties as a Trainee Technician will include:
Working as part of a small growing team to undertake long and short-term projects
Assisting with providing a higher quality of work to uphold the Company reputation and standard
Assisting with accurate recording of data and validation / checking of results
Assistance with analysing, reporting and generating certification on all testing undertaken, strictly promptly
Carry out daily on-site / laboratory testing work, and yard work as directed, with initiative and foresight
Assistance with maintenance of all equipment, and calibration records
Be able to focus on deliverables, and to work well within a small growing team
Vehicle maintenance checks, and regular up-keeping of vehicle appearance and condition
Responsible for housekeeping of laboratory premises, and including appropriate tools and equipment storage
To be aware of Company Health and Safety requirements and adhere to them fully, at all times
To be aware of all Company Policies and Procedures and adhere to them fully, at all times
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential
Computer literate with experience in using Microsoft Office Suite / 365 (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) plus be familiar with PDF’s and know how to navigate the Internet
Great housekeeping abilities, keeping the Sites and the Laboratory workspace clean and tidy
The ability to work as part of a team, and independently to deliver accurate, compliant completed results and excellent customer service – always
Ability to work independently and adhere to short strict deadlines
A full and valid UK Driving Licence Required (6 points or less – no active convictions)
Strong committed work ethics, with a willingness to learn and help
Punctual, committed, loyal and reliable!
Focused attitude and behaviour
Willingness to work away and/or drive nationwide daily to undertake work which may require additional hours – adhoc and/or with short notice, and may also include some evenings, weekends & nights
Desirable
An understanding of electrical / mechanical / structural engineering
Site experience (demonstrate competence with site tools/equipment)
Great attention to detail
Have a flexible approach to time-keeping when completing jobs
Possession of a valid CSCS Card (preferred, can be undertaken later)
Relevant Qualifications are desired, however not essential as basic job training will be issued along with internal & external qualifications provided by the Company when required, for each project
