Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant with a good standard of numeracy and literacy and excellent interpersonal skills is required for an Academy Trust based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.

NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Experience within the classroom or with learning support would be an advantage but is not essential.If you are a graduate considering a career in teaching this is an ideal stepping stone to gain valuable experience.

SALARY: £24,027 FTE / £16,430 Actual Annual Salary + Benefits

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire (SO30)

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent (term time only)

WORKING HOURS: 29.5 hours per week,8.30am 4.00pm Monday and Thursday and 8.30am 3.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday,term time only, 40 weeks

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant with a good standard of numeracy and literacy and excellent interpersonal skills.

Working as the Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant you will be enthusiastic and calm and will have a genuine interest in working with students who have a variety of additional needs.

As the Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant you will work closely with teaching and non-teaching staff and will provide support across a range of different curriculum subjects.The ability to work flexibly and independently are important qualities for the role.

DUTIES

Your duties and key responsibilities as the Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Classroom Assistant will include:

• Participate in the evaluation of the learning support programmes

• Maintain student progress records

• Assist the development of a system of recording students progress

• Contribute to reviews of students progress

• Carry out special duties where necessary for students with disabilities (training given)

• Take into account the special needs of students to aid them to learn as effectively as possible, for example:

• clarifying and explaining instructions
• ensuring that all students are able to use equipment and materials provided
• motivating and encouraging student as required
• assisting in weak areas, e.g. language, behaviour, reading, spelling, handwriting and presentation, etc
• helping students to concentrate on and finish work set
• meeting physical needs as required whilst encouraging independence

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a genuine interest in working with students who have a variety of additional needs

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Good standard of numeracy and literacy

• Able to work flexibly and independently

• Calm under pressure

• Experience in the classroom would be an advantage
