JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Structural Investigation Project Manager to join a growing multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering structural investigations, concrete testing and structural surveying projects throughout the UK. Working across civil engineering, infrastructure and reinforced concrete structures, the Structural Investigation Project Manager will oversee intrusive and non-intrusive site investigations, technical reporting and testing operations using specialist equipment including Ferroscan, PUNDIT, Schmidt Hammer, covermeter and GPR systems. As a Structural Investigation Project Manager you will manage nationwide site activities, liaise with clients and contractors, support health and safety compliance and ensure projects are delivered safely, accurately and on schedule. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical, leadership and customer service skills who enjoys hands‑on site work and varied engineering projects.
DUTIES
- Managing Structural Investigation Projects: Overseeing multiple ongoing structural investigation and concrete testing projects across the UK
- Conducting Site Investigations: Carrying out intrusive and non-intrusive structural surveys, testing and inspections in line with relevant standards and company procedures
- Producing Technical Reports: Analysing survey and testing data and generating detailed factual reports to a high standard
- Operating Specialist Survey Equipment: Using Ferroscan, covermeter, PUNDIT, Schmidt Hammer and GPR systems to undertake structural testing and reinforced concrete investigations
- Using Site Tools Safely: Operating diamond core drills, breaker drills and associated construction site equipment safely and effectively
- Liaising with Stakeholders: Working closely with clients, contractors, suppliers and colleagues to ensure projects are delivered accurately and on time
- Supporting Health and Safety Compliance: Following company health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times
- Maintaining Equipment Records: Managing calibration, inspection and maintenance records for testing and survey equipment
- Supporting Team Development: Supervising and training of technicians and junior staff where required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- Previous experience leading structural investigation and concrete testing projects
- Experience using specialist testing and surveying equipment including GPR, Ferroscan, covermeter or Schmidt Hammer systems
- A background in civil engineering, structural engineering, structural surveying or construction site investigations
- Proficiency in English, Mathematics, Science and IT
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe PDF
- An understanding of reinforced concrete, steel and masonry structures
- SSSTS certification or higher
- Valid CSCS Card
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical documentation and reports
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and provide excellent customer service
- Full UK Driving Licence with 6 points or fewer and no active convictions
- Flexible approach to nationwide travel, overnight stays and occasional evening or weekend work

- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in a Construction or Engineering subject
- IPAF certification
- PASMA certification
