An excellent opportunity for a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Supervisor to join a modern secondary school in Southampton supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Ideal for candidates with classroom management, safeguarding, behaviour management or education support experience.

JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Supervisor working within a modern and growing secondary school environment focused on ambition, inclusion and student achievement. As a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Supervisor you will supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-planned learning activities while maintaining excellent classroom management and behaviour standards. Full training and ongoing professional development will be provided.
The successful Cover Supervisor / Classroom Supervisor will support students across a range of subjects and year groups, assist with safeguarding and learning support duties, and contribute positively to the wider school community. This role is ideal for individuals considering a future career in education, training or youth support, offering valuable experience working directly with students in a structured school setting.
DUTIES
- Supervising Lessons: Supporting classes during teacher absences using pre-planned lesson materials
- Classroom Management: Maintaining high standards of behaviour and ensuring students remain on task
- Student Support: Responding to student questions and assisting with learning activities where required
- Tutor Group Support: Covering tutor registrations and supervising assemblies when needed
- Safeguarding Responsibilities: Following school safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety policies at all times
- Administrative Support: Assisting with exam invigilation, classroom preparation and general administration tasks
- Communication: Reporting behavioural or academic concerns to relevant teaching staff and school leaders
- Resource Management: Ensuring classrooms, equipment and learning materials are organised and left tidy
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working with young people, schools, education or classroom environments would be beneficial
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with students and staff
- Ability to maintain positive classroom behaviour and encourage student participation
- A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Confidence working across different subjects and responding positively to changing priorities
- Reliable, approachable and committed to supporting student learning and wellbeing
- Basic administrative and IT skills including the use of school systems and Microsoft Office
