JOB OVERVIEW: This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician / Workshop Technician who enjoys practical problem-solving and wants to develop their skills while working on a varied range of small hire equipment, pipe welding tools and general power tools. The Mechanical Technician / Workshop Technician will inspect, service, maintain and repair equipment, learning to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults while ensuring items are safe and ready for hire.
DUTIES: Your duties as the Mechanical Technician / Workshop Technician include:
- Inspect, service, maintain and repair tools and equipment in the workshop to a high standard
- Identify and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults, using training and guidance where required
- Prepare equipment for hire, complete safety checks and ensure items are safe, compliant and ready for customer use
- Inspect returned equipment for damage, missing items and cleanliness, reporting defects or discrepancies
- Record servicing and repair work accurately using the company’s maintenance systems
- Assist with the safe loading and unloading of plant and equipment and support day-to-day workshop operations
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and work with colleagues to meet customer demand and deadlines
- Take part in structured learning and development to build technical knowledge and practical repair skills
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
ESSENTIAL:
- Mechanically minded with strong practical aptitude and confidence using tools and equipment
- Able to understand how mechanical equipment works and develop fault-finding and repair skills through training
- Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work carefully, safely and to a high standard
- Willing to assist with equipment inspections, workshop tasks and loading or unloading as part of the wider operation
- Able to prioritise work in a busy environment with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Able to carry out the physical, hands-on duties required when working with tools and equipment
DESIRABLE:
- Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, servicing, repairs, engineering, fitting or a workshop environment
- Previous tool hire or hire equipment experience
