Job Overview: The organisation is looking for a full-time SHEQ Advisor to join a small, supportive safety, health, environmental and quality team. The organisation operates within the utilities sector, primarily supporting water industry contracts involving the repair, maintenance, backfilling and reinstatement of water assets. Work can include higher-risk activities such as deep excavations and highway-based operations, with additional support provided across gas, power and smart metering contracts when required. The role will involve a good mix of site and office-based duties, supporting teams with health and safety inspections, induction training, toolbox talks, training records, incident processes and ongoing compliance. The successful candidate will be diligent, proactive and confident working independently, with the ability to communicate clearly, engage groups during training and support continual improvement across the business.
Duties: Your duties as the SHEQ Advisor will include:
- Site Inspections: Complete weekly HSE site inspections of operatives and teams, helping to maintain safe working practices across operational activities.
- Office and Yard Inspections: Undertake monthly HSE inspections across office and yard environments, identifying areas for improvement and supporting compliance.
- Deliver Induction Training: Provide weekly HSE induction training for new starters, including office-based employees and operational staff.
- Support Safety Training: Deliver Toolbox Talks on a range of HSE subjects, managing responses and helping to keep teams informed and engaged.
- Maintain Training Records: Update and maintain the Training Matrix using the CRM system, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate Refresher Training: Outsource relevant training and book refresher courses where required to support employee competence and compliance.
- Attend SHEQ Meetings: Participate in client and internal SHEQ meetings, providing clear updates and supporting agreed actions.
