Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician who has an eye for detail and is competent in the use of all sewing machinery is required for well-established Global Brand based in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician who has an eye for detail and is competent in the use of all sewing machinery.
Working as the Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician you will be responsible for manufacturing and assembling seating systems by sewing to a high standard and to the specifications specified by the Seating Engineer.
As the Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician you will ensure that all products produced meet the required safety standards indicated by the company or component / material supplier, and all procedures carried out are in accordance with the company QA system.
DUTIES
Your duties as a Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician will include:
• Manufacture and assemble seating covers and accessories to a high standard from technical instructions supplied by the seating engineer
• Contribute and work closely with the workshop Team Leader and Finishing Supervisor towards ensuring work is completed on time and to a high quality
• Ensure that the seating systems produced and prepared conform to the Company’s Quality Standards through visual and mechanical inspections
• Reduce any material wastage by good working practices
• Inspect all products manufactured before distribution
• Apply good working practices during the production/preparation process to reduce material wastage to a minimum
• Correctly book/use materials used onto the relevant job sheet promptly and legibly to ensure accurate stock levels are maintained
• Provide training, advice and guidance on the technical aspects of seating systems and any particular areas of expertise to new and junior members of the team
• Identify independently or during annual appraisal reviews any personal training needs, and advise your Team Leader accordingly to maintain Continuing Personal Development
• Control housekeeping
• Identify any job signed off at the inspection stage meets the requirements of the Engineers instructions, technical instructions and conforms to the internal agreed quality standards implemented for the production unit. Any job signed off should meet the agreed standards set out in the inspection guidelines
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• Competent in the use of all sewing machinery and hand tools necessary to manufacture, assemble and finish seating systems
• Proficient in making and cutting out all types of patterns
• Knowledgeable in the types of materials and processes used to manufacture and finish all types of seating systems
• A positive individual with a ‘can do’ attitude and results driven approach
• Well organised and proactive, managing multiple priorities and coping when under pressure
• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
